EASTON,
MA
– On
Monday night, November 9th,
Richard Wertz, Grand Knight, Easton Council 238,
presented a check for $4,000 to 16 year old
Kyle
Sullivan from Brockton. The proceeds
will be used towards the purchase of two hearing
aids. This donation is a result of the
Annual
Tootsie Roll Drive
that
takes place each year.
Many
Massachusetts children and their families have
benefited from the grants through the
Massachusetts State Council Knights of Columbus
Charity Fund.
The Massachusetts State Council Knights of
Columbus Charity Fund has been established to
assist persons with intellectual disabilities,
regardless of age, and physically handicapped
children who have not reached their 20th
birthday regardless of sex or religion. The
proceeds from monies raised will be used to
assist needy local families in purchasing or
building handicapped ramps, van lifts, hearing
aids, wheelchairs and other equipment to make
their life a little more enjoyable.
Such major
grants as renovations to the South Shore ARC
facilities, Yawkey House of Possibilities in
Easton, and St. Colletta's Day School, Cardinal
Cushing Training Centers in Braintree and
Hanover, Major Renovations for the Massachusetts
Special Olympics, are among the many works of
charity in which the Massachusetts Knights of
Columbus have been involved. Last year alone,
the Knights donated over $150 million and 69
million hours of service to charitable causes.
The 44,000 Massachusetts Knights and their
families donated over $3 million to local
agencies and individuals who are handicapped and
mentally challenged.
The Easton
Knights of Columbus would like to thank the
community for their donations. |
